Influenced by the rockabilly and R&B sounds come to life in their native Memphis just a decade before, The Jesters were a garage rock band with a rotating lineup in the mid-1960s. Usually including Sam Phillips’ son Jerry Phillips and production from his brother Knox Phillips, The Jesters laid down both original songs and cover tracks, including “Cadillac Man,” one of the last singles on Sun. Enjoy their version of Junior Walker’s “Shotgun,” among multiple tracks new to streaming.

The Jesters Memphis, Tennessee

Unlike most garage bands of the era, the Jesters' sound was not influenced by the Beatles and the British Invasion, but rather firmly rooted in early rock and roll, Memphis rockabilly, as well as the blues. The Jesters went to Sun Studios to record a number of cuts including "Cadillac Man," which received good local airplay, but did not gain wider exposure. ... more
